matthewsandparker (Mark Eckman) + Todd Merrill - your past due bill of $179,084.77 includes compound interest, as of 5/27/2024 is due and payable now, by either direct deposit or Venmo or PayPal. Or should your son should pay it since he apparently either 'cinematographed' or 'videografted' my copyright photo. Where exactly does one take a course in such a thing? You also cinemato/stole images that I know of, from 'fatchancelosangeles', Jeff Schuerholz. And from Angus McEwan. Which you had to delete.

Misrepresentation directly from their websites: "Karl Springer LTD continues the legacy of its namesake founder who, throughout the 1960s and 1970s, created custom-made designs with superb craftsmanship and extreme attention to detail."
As seen below KARL SPRINGER LTD. is NOT a continuation of Karl Springer's business, KARL SPRINGER, LTD. (notice the comma) of which there was no association with Todd Merril or of Mark Eckman except as a salesman for Just Plastics, and being employed for occasional periods of time, hired by Joachim Springer, 3 or 4 times, as a salesman, on the floor of the showroom. KARL SPRINGER, LTD. (note the comma after SPRINGER). As shown below: State of New York, Department of Corporations. One is of the real and actual designer Karl Springer's company and business. Filed January 30, 1961 and then dissolved December 29, 1999 - notice Karl wanted his name separate from the Ltd., so there is a comma - KARL SPRINGER, LTD. - then, KARL SPRINGER LTD. , filed November 25, 2015, so that people will assume it is the continuation of the actual business belonging to Mr. Karl Springer - even to the point of claiming this deliberate misrepresentation on - matthewsandparker.com - and elsewhere, that Mark Eckman somehow worked with Karl in design for 30 years. Karl did not even work with his brother, Joachim in design. Below, you will be able to check out Marks real bio (a very long time ago, so if I am off on something I am happy to correct it. Mark can provide all his tax forms from 1975 to 1994 (if these are lost the IRS will happily provide copies). Not to mention, the only intermittent position that Mark ever held at Karl Springer was as a salesman on the floor of the NYC showroom, hired by Joachim Springer - Not by Karl Springer. Jaime Ardiles Arce, the photographer, an old friend of Karl's, also photographed both the Free Form Stainless Steel tables and the 8" diameter Sculpture Leg coffee table for the catalog. The Sun Sculpture was designed and made by the artist, Joseph Varsas, which worked perfectly for Karl's apartment shoot. Varsas found a very large chunk of the blue granite, which he showed photos of to Karl, explaining the idea of the sun, an ancient idea. Being on top of large blocks he would have cut, polished and drilled, knowing the cleanness and sharpness of this would appeal to Karl. The suns being poured, at a foundry that both he and Roberto Estevez used. Made as one clean edged, solid piece so that the support column would be seamless with the sun. The real sculpture is voluptuous, with clean, smooth edges. There was enough of the granite, so that only three could be made, one for the NY, LA & Miami showrooms. The raggedy edged suns of Todd Merrill & Mark Eckman, made of bits and pieces, stuck on all sorts of bases, that are slapped together of common parts in metal shops, etc. Their stone bases can be put together by any shop that cuts out slabs for kitchen counters. I will add that I once suggested making a base of the sort as yours, Mark & Todd, in my first year with Karl, who was absolutely abhorred by such a thing. Going completely against his design ethos, which is why clients paid high prices, along with becoming an internationally recognized designer. Karl only made unique items in the best possible, painstaking and time consuming manner as with artworks Karl carried by several artists. Karl never sold - in your case, stole - anything of or from any artist. In addition, your suns appear to me, as though two metal plates were slapped together and welded, leaving the ragged edge. Karl never made or sold copies of any works of any of the artists, contrary to you whack jobs, completely made up writings of such things. Karl was overbearingly honest, nothing that will ever be attributed to either of you two.
There were NO metal signature plates until 1993/94 when I had Royal Metal Products, in Surprise, NY, make me 4 of them to identify pieces I had on consignment at Ken Hansen Assoc., so as to identify where they were from, with the tags saying that the signature plates were not included. I told Todd Merrill many years ago there were no Karl Springer plates in metal other than the brass ones from the Philippines, as Philippine customs requires every item be tagged. Karl did not believe, as George Nakashima did not believe, in signing his pieces, considering them as being pieces of furniture for the owners to enjoy as such. This changed in 1978 at the insistence of Joachim Springer and others. Signing things and celebrity was very much in vogue then. Many clients wanted pieces signed, while many clients insisted on nothing to be signed. Karl's compromise was that metal pieces could be inset stamped by the signature that he had Royal Metal make for their use. Karl refused to make any metal tags to "stick on his furniture". "Anyone can make something out of something and then stick in on anything - it means nothing". This is why when signatures do appear on a metal piece, it has been stamped into the metal before polishing or plating. For the leather telephone tables Karl had a leather signature plate made for use on exact precision cut leather, to fit into the cutouts the telephone tables, as copies had started appearing. This is cut exactly into the leather underneath the top - which has been stamped and cut out for the signature piece of leather to fit precisely into the cutout. Many times one can find a scribbled sort of signature on a lucite lamp not of Karl's design and manufacture not designed by Karl Springer. This does not diminish an actual KS lamp, but it has to be noted the signature is not real even though the lamp may be. Goatskin covered pieces were not signed, there are other ways that I use to identify real vintage pieces of both standard design or custom design.
Below are the New York State Division of Corporations, State Records and UCC - KARL SPRINGER, LTD. (distinguished by the comma between SPRINGER, LTD.) is for the entity of the real person and designer Karl Springer which was dissolved on Dec 29, 1999 - the copy corporation specific to fool people-the bottom one - is made to look like some sort of "continuation" of the actual person known as Karl Springer, is a business of Mark Eckman, who had no association, other than as a salesman of Just Plastics, and as a sometime salesman on the floor of the NYC showroom of KARL SPRINGER, LTD. while also working at another showroom when he was let go. - Mark Eckman's corporation was formed on NOVEMBER 24, 2015 - an entirely separate business with no actual involvement with Mr. Karl Springer and was formed many years after Mr. Karl Springer's death. Karl's business entity name is -KARL SPRINGER, LTD. // Mark's business name is - KARL SPRINGER LTD. In order to create confusion.

Mark Eckman's & Todd Merrill's claim of selling and making reissues of Karl Springer designs, would actually need to be of actual designs of Mr. Karl Springer. Above is a Real Karl Springer Designed Mushroom Lamp - even the "reissue table lamp" is a great big MISS for the dimensions - the actual real KS top is 15" wide - not 18" wide. The mushroom table lamp was not to be made as a floor lamp - was never designed to be tall, or made as a floor lamp by Karl Springer. Karl loved the mushroom table lamp for use on desks, end/night tables and consoles, due to the fact that the light would illuminate beautiful surfaces and are heavily weighted to be stable. In that vein almost every case good piece is made with adjustable domes underneath, for the simple reason that a perfectly level floor in NYC is virtually impossible to find. The domes are adjusted and voila, no wobble. With all the action going on top and underneath the surface of NYC, occasional shaking and sharp movements inside of buildings occur. A top heavy lamp not only would need a large, base stuck onto it, the base and floor surface illuminated would not be anything worth spotlighting. Merrill & Eckman experimented, settling on some sort of baffling to try to diffuse the light shining into your eyes if one was sitting under it, but still illuminating that awful, hideously common base and whatever flooring, hopefully not an unstable thick carpet. Most of the designers and architects clients were older, with their children gone, married and having children. For this reason 96% of the coffee tables, and other tables do not have sharp corners for grandchildren to run into and hurt themselves. Also during parties no dresses, gowns, or pants legs become torn. A top heavy lamp, that really doesn't provide room illumination, and with a most common stuck on base, defeats the purpose and aesthetics of being a pure Mushroom Shape! Ones grandchildren, or anyone standing or seated can be clobbered by simply knocking into this thing. Not to mention smashing into a multi million dollar painting or sculpture. While on this subject, the actual real Karl Springer X-Bench has a cross bar almost at the bottom of the X bars, as a separate distinct piece, with brass detailing. Karl's detailing of his pieces is what makes them subconsciously more pleasant to the eye, unlike your bench with the bar completely at the bottom of the X, ruining the effect, while making it cheaper for you to manufacture.
The legal case, below, was obviously settled and paid in full within sixty days, for $$$$.
Or the case would have been reopened for a trial. My, my, my.
The only piece of furniture designed by Mark Eckman that I have ever seen, is directly below. Notice the photo I took is in the Karl Springer warehouse that was in Long Island City. I was on one of my trips to NYC from LA, going to the warehouse to see some custom designed furniture that had been made for a client before it was picked up. There was this piece that I assumed had been someones great grandmothers that had been refinished as a favor to somebody or other. The guys said no (giggling). This was something Mark made and that was all they knew. This was one of the times Mark had been let go. I think he was back at Lorin Marsh. When I got back to the showrom I asked what it was doing there. It turned out that while Karl was on a trip to Europe, Joachim and Mark had worked out to put this on the floor to see if Joachim could make some extra money and then Mark would be able to claim to be some sort of furniture designer, with the support of Karl, rather than simply a salesman on the floor for Springer. When Karl returned from his trip, he walked around the full floor showroom to see that it was in proper order. After he made his walk thru, he had Joachim come over to this strange piece of furniture to find out precisely what it was doing in his showroom. Nobody knows for sure what Joachim's answer was, but Karl blew up and had it immediately sent to the warehouse to get it out of his sight. It stayed in the warehouse for a while, even with Mark no longer being employed at KS, until one time I was back in NYC, the piece was gone. When I got back to the showroom, John Protomaster told me it had been picked up, with Mark telling him that someone had bought it. NOT PURCHASED from or through Karl Springer. Purchased directly from Mark simply bacause the piece had nothing to do with KARL SPRINGER, LTD.
Trump Tower Penthouse of Donald Trump, Architectural Digest July 1985. The Large Torso, in bronze, by Roberto Estevez.
The signature of Roberto Estevez on the small torso that Roberto had cast for the business in 1980, to show Karl what it was that he proposed to cast as a larger than life male torso. When Karl bought an apartment in Miami Beach, he took it there. As with Joseph Varsas, Karl would give a deposit if something was to be made, including the hand painted fabrics of Lynn Shelton and Takako when yardage was ordered by designers for upholstery and draperies. Please note, that like all life partners or married couples, which didn't exist for gays then, Karl and Roberto's personal life was always kept separate from their business lives. They lived separately in NYC, spending weekends and such at Karl's house in the town of Southold, New York, where Karl built a separate cottage where they could be privately away from house guests. They learned early not to get into the others businesses. As such, Roberto worked at his pace on sculptures, bronze and others - such as Falcons - that were part cast in some sort of pottery, with metal and other things added, the main body usually being in high gloss gunmetal lacquer. Karl never 'commissioned' Roberto to do anything. Roberto did not want anyone commissioning anything and having some say in a piece. Then, bothering him about when it would be done, etc. He was not interested in anyone's opinion of what and when he made anything. Roberto was very hot tempered and never shared anything of his work, other than with his friends at the foundry. If Karl even mentioned anything about the finish on any of the metal cast sculptures, that could start a big fight, so Karl learned to accept whatever Roberto did. What follows, written about the sculpture by Todd & Mark is absolutely not the truth, used as an untrue sales tool. As stated elsewhere, Karl Springer NEVER made and sold copies of pieces of artists work. As an example, every once in a while Roberto would show up with one of his sculptures of a set of three different sized Monkeys. Clients loved the Monkeys. One never knew if or when they or something might show up.

Mary Forssberg and Armando Valdez with the Large Bronze Torso by Roberto Estevez
What a Fantastical story from Todd and Mark, in the square from the Todd Merrill Studio The small bust by Roberto Estevez was created to show Karl what he wanted to make. Roberto was treated the same way Karl gave approval to art pieces by Joseph Varsas, the artist who designed the three Sun Sculptures. After receiving the go ahead from Karl, Varsas was given a deposit from Springer, with a final payment when the three were finished and delivered. Karl got many pieces of art from Varsas over the years. The Suns, being the artists Joseph Varsas creation, were never made again, like most artists, they create new pieces, and in particular, as fraudulently claimed, not in two sizes, or now four sizes, nor with a variety of finishes or stands made of spare parts, some of which can be made by your friendly neighborhood plumber. Karl always made sure there were never many accessories around at one time, the business of Karl Springer was in the business of designing, manufacturing and selling furniture. This sculpture, nor any other, were never designed by Karl Springer. Nor copies of any artists work was ever made or sold by Karl Springer. One never knew what Varsas would come up with or bring in. I think I have only see one or two of his incredible mirrors, all one-of-a kind, come onto the secondary market, someone in a family always having dibs on it. On the right is a hand inlay Matchstick and Brass Mirror by Joseph Varsas. Below it is a Pyramid Style Cabinet in hand inlay of Matchstick and Mother of Pearl.
For Billy Gaylord's clients Fritz and Lucy Jewitt, Billy, myself and Varsas worked out a tall Pyramid Cabinet, that went to Newport, Rhode Island for the 1983 America's Cup. This was for the Jewitt's Newport residence, a television cabinet, with doors that opened by remote control, the TV on a roll-out, which then swiveled into position for viewing. This cabinet was covered in hand inlay Matchstick. I was fortunate to be flown up for three days for the installation in case there was a problem, which there wasn't.
The Sun Sculptures by Joseph Varsas were completed in 1985., I love how people, and antique dealers, when they are making up something, say something like "it is said". Todd Merrill, a third generation antique dealer, who I am quite sure was never in the Manhattan Springer showroom, or ever knew who Karl Springer was until he saw that dealers were making money on vintage Karl Springer pieces. The movie 'The Nightingale', clearly spells out how most antique dealers work. Mark Eckman only specifically worked as a salesman on the floor, being hired by Joachim, sporadically, for short intervals, two or three times, just as he worked several times for Lorin Marsh Limited as a salesman on the floor, as laid out in Mark Eckman's bio on this site.

The Sun, cleverly - by scammers - named by T&M, 'Sonnenteller' - simply called by Mr. Karl Springer and the Artist, Joseph Varsas as 'Sun Sculpture'. Above in brass, below in chrome, with it's raggedy edges, have merely a passing resemblance to the very "clean edged", with the column to hold up the disk allowing the Sun Sculpture to revolve - only 3 were cast because that was the number of the blue granite piece that could be cut from that granite block, polished and drilled.
Bases of T&M //// 'Karl Springer LTD' are made of materials that anyone can have made at any sort of a local metal shop, even a car body repair shop or stone shop, kitchen counter shop, or even in your own garage, are not designs of Mr. Karl Springer, nor by the artist, Mr. Joseph Varsas. The Cabinet and Mirror were also the work of Joseph Varsas, one of the many artists that Karl had dealings with... Just another fantastical story made up as a fake sales tool seen in the Todd Merrill box below.

Below is the made up fake story by these two grubby fakers. "it is said" usually means it is fake information! This base was never designed or used by Karl Springer. Obviously made by any kitchen counter stone yard. Absolutely common in design.
